Self-Advocacy

In Order To Live - Book Review

August 21, 2021
I have already wrote few words about the book titled In Order To Live by Yeonmi Park. It is an autobiography on how she escaped North Korea. North Korea is country that can be described with something that is from a horror film. Politics a side, North Korea is a place where people are constantly watched by authorities, punished for minor offenses, if you said something wrong you either ended up in

How to be a good advocate

April 30, 2021
I will be turning 32 years old on May 18, I want to make few key points on how to be a good advocate for others. I had to stand up for myself… a lot. I lost count to be honest. As I got older and wiser, I was kind of gullible but now I can read people like a book. I don’t know how it began and what came over me. As I remember, throughout middle and high school I demanded to be challenged. It was a simple question but effective. This was some years ago. Depending on the situation, there are millions of ways on how to effectively speak to people. And I found myself in this environment, since I stood up for myself now it is my turn to do the same for others.

I work in a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities. Organizations like where I work are the voice for many people who are weaker and who can’t stand up for themselves. I am participating in a workshop outside of that talks about how to advocate for others and fight the injustice in the functional society that effects everyone. But I will cut to the chase and I am going to list how you can help yourself and others:

1.) Social issues- Find something that you are really passionate about. My subject of choice is that everyone should have a stable employment.

2.) Research- Take a look where a job can be found. I have looked online and called places. I lost count where I called and applied to.

3.) Network- If you use social media, ask your friends if they know anyone who is hiring.

4.) Ask yourself- If there a right job for me? This is a question people ask when a searching for a job.

If you got a chance to read articles about Japan and technology you can say I have specific interests. But in theory I am into multiculturalism and linguist, even though I use simple language on my page.

April 25, 2017

Matt Groeining

Simpsons
Matt Groening is a creator of the most famous family in the world, The Simpsons. It is the longest American animated series in the world. The dtysfunctioning family is based on his life events. The Simpson make fun at popular culture as well but a little more family friendly with a focus on mistakes and fixing them by learning a valuable lessons. The show draw laughter and controversies but still millions adore this bold nincompoop. I am quite a fan of Family Guy and The Simpson, I might of saw every episode two or three times. In many episodes Homer Simpson gots often drunk, put a town in danger, bad mouthed others for expressing his distaste for specific trends or situations and stood up for others who are weaker than others. And Marge a typical stay at home parent with three children. The creator based the characters around his family and himself.

DID YOU KNOW: That most of our animated shows, one 30 minute episode take about nine months to complete. It takes time to write the the script, draw and animate where the studio sends the material to South Korea where it perfected with color and animation. Koreans frown on the subject of American comedy, because particularly when a youngest character refers to an adult parent by their first name. In societies with highest respect to elders, particularly Japanese, Koreans and Chinese they see it as very rude and disrespectful.

Seth MacFarlaine

FG
I would be very embarrassed for you, if you said you love Family Guy but you haven't heard of Seth MacFarlane. A talented creator and voice actor for other shows like American Dad and recently Ted, an foul mouthed teddybear. With many productions under his belt Seth MacFarlane is also a musician. Every episode of the beloved show has rather interesting scenarios, for one of the examples Peter Griffin (the main character) is forced to see a school play and misses televised award show. And when watching his favorite shows everything started to be heavily censored because once actor had a wardrobe malfunction the night before. Then he starts his own TV station where he puts everything is X-rated. Or the one in which plays non-spot his favorite song from 1960's Surfing Bird. Being the creator it does not mean that he is on top of everything, each episode has very talented writers. Each episode mocks how ridiculous the world is and how we can make fun of it. But not everything is pink and fluffy bunny cute, there were some episodes that made rather negative headlines. In one Chris Griffin goes out on a date with a girl who has down syndrome, in one line she tells him that her mom used to be the governor of Alaska, Sarah Pailn. The joke was not aimed at her child but at the personality of the charter. The line was just a reference. Voice actor has down syndrome herself.

FACT: On September 11, 2001 Seth MacFarlane had to fly out to LA in the morning from Boston. He arrived late to the airport after a conference from night before and a heavy hangover, missing the flight that he supposed to be on hit one of the Twin Towers in New York City.

Walt Disney

I really love movies! Particularly action and comedy. I probably don't have to go to a deep details and explain why… When I was a kid I watched many animated shows and movies, one of which was Disney. I probably saw almost every Walt Disney film. Everyone of them is a masterpiece! As I am a adult I like more sophisticated materials, but it is fun to reminisce of the younger days. Disney brings smiles to billions of people. The very first Disney cassette was Pinnochio, my favorite part was when the hooligans turn into donkeys, for skipping school and vandalizing the theme park. I grew up on values and I guessing I was born a badass from the start.
DID YOU KNOW: Animated films from Japan by Hiao Miyazaki's- Studio Gibli are dubbed by Walt Disney Studios for American market. Family Guy episode Adventure (Trip) To The Multiverse, animators and directors hired few of Disney staff and asked (and happily agreed)  to illustrate segment in which Stewie and Brian who visit the Disney Universe.

Artist's Dark Side

October 12, 2016
Being influenced by art you see what the artist might be feeling. So in my second entry I'm going to try explore a human mind. Now I have to admit that I don't have any psychiatrist know-how, but theoretically to emotionally put maybe I could. Artists suck as musicians write songs on material like the joy of driving to relationships. Let's take a Nas's hit "I know I can", the rap song is very poetic explaining how a drug use can lead up to in youth demographic to emphasize where they would end up. This particular track is very dark but it paints a clear picture. Other artists talk about relationships… some might be joyful, painful or a dirty fantasy. Listening to many songs, since I could distinguish sound by far my favorite songs would be romantic and about daily life issues. What does an artist feel? Let's take this painting as an example.
image
This pairing is to illustrate the dedication to over 3000 souls lost on September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Like many drawing, paintings and murals show the pain and suffering to showing that no matter how much trauma this day caused we can move on. This particular one shows some kind of post apocalyptical word with no future.
Paintings such as "Scream" shows a person really in panic. The particular painting you see above is in Museum Of American Art in New Britain CT. The first time I saw this painting, I thought it was well done but to its gargantuan size it feels like a jetliner crashed in front of you. Take a trip to Connecticut and see it for yourself, and judge it for yourself. The museum is big and very nice place to visit.
Pink_Treasures1
What would you describe a happy painting? A nice mountain scenery perhaps or even a collage with random objects… In my imagination tab I specified that human emotions, especially female can take someone's attention. For example a little blond girl picking daisies (roses, maybe hydrangeas in this case) in a countryside. What this girl feels? What is her facial expression…? Nothing, she is so innocent and humble. With no care in the world she wants to pick and play in the field.
Just take a hospital pain chart, walk through the museum and look at every piece. On the scale from zero to ten. Zero meaning having a natural feeling and ten by this particular painting does not fit my taste. Describe the art work.
My bedroom walls are grayish blue color, very soft and cool. But I don’t have any picture, yet alone a poster. Being one who is a simplistic type, I would be hard for me to pick. I don't know… maybe Picasso's geometric shapes.

Childhood Cancer- The Horror

December 9, 2016
In my article about Neurofibromatosis I touch on few things about my health but I never touch on cancer in detail. What is cancer? Well… it classifies in many categories. Don't want to list them all because I am not familiar with any and there are a lot. Cancer can be spontaneous and genetics or caused when you are smoking cigarettes or eating large amounts of poison. Often this kind of damage can't be reversed. But you can prevent it by eating healthy and scheduling regular doctor visits.
Unknown
If you look at childhood cancers and it's the worst. Not only a child suffers the entire family does. A kid should be enjoying life horsing around with friends and enjoying family time, going to school and taking long vacations. Some children are so sick they can't even go out. In some cases with weak immune system.
I went through chemotherapy and I was not happy about it. Only school life could make me cheerful and something to look forward to and it kept my mind off medicine. Regardless it made me healthier.
Besides yucky treatments, I know how it feels because I went every week for almost two years. And if my blood count was low the visit was postponed and I got extra platelets. Personally I don't know how I can describe the sanction. But just imagine the worst kind of feeling. And even I had a vomit in my mouth and felt like I had be in school!! Call me crazy but, I don't not want to miss any day of school. If I felt sick I ran to the bathroom if my gut did turn inside out. Sometimes I fell asleep in class, because side effects of chemo is upset stomach, nausea and weakness. Somehow I was getting away with it.
How does the chemotherapy feel like? Well… that depends on your cancer treatments. In some cases you have to take steroids to have an energy boost. And I did have to take them, at one point blood transfusion was necessary. The powerful medicine will make you lose your appetite... If you are a foodie aficionado you probably will not have to worry. Will there be a chemo pill that can substitute the liquid kind? Hopefully some day.
In other story, I have lost a good friend named Justin to cancer, he was 22. We met at the hospital when we were teenagers… we went New Orleans with two other kids. When he went to college, sadly his cancer returned and hoping my friend would get healthy again, he never came beck home. He died few days before Christmas in 2011. He loved New York Yankees and New York Giants. With the love for sport he wanted to work at ESPN, operating camera and other video equipment.
Kids, teens and young individuals like myself shouldn't die regardless the connection they have. People who die of cancer at tender of fifty something, and that is still too young. When I look, one of my idols like Steve Jobs, he said he was sick and had pancreas cancer. He was 56 when he passed. Steve Jobs had worked to the every end. I don't know where I've read it or heard it, but somehow kids react better to treatments than adults. But cancers can return with a vengeance and sometimes sadly there is no more hope. Way too many good people die young. Cancer should be a thing of the past and eliminated for good... once and for all!

New Year- New Chapter

January 31, 2017
New-Year-2017
My most favorite Holiday on the calendar would be Christmas. I love giving gifts to family and friends. But in recent years we do Secret Santa during Thanksgiving and buy a gift for the person's name we picked from the hat. I very much like the idea of it because, I don't need any thing. I usually get cash or a gift card.
The most beautiful thing about Christmas Holidays is love and togetherness. I love talking about and sharing my new experiences and activities or accomplishments in the past twelve months. Since we are in a New Year, we look a head to the future. Maybe is personal health, or success. It's very lovely to look at the past and reflect on the events that impacted us.
2017 is already eventful year. President got elected in November and sworn in recent days. Will this be the beginning of something better or a horrible chapter that will last years...? I don't know for sure but I have my plans and ambitions, and I will not be stopped achieving my goal. Since the job market is rocky since 2008, I had no idea what I want to do. My dreams were kind of outrageous and even though if I was capable of doing them, they will not exist. (Or they already are extinct.)

I think I am starting to like this website creation field. I am taking some online classes on iPhone application development as well and it is very interesting. There are millions of apps and games downloaded… some are fantastic and some are not as good. I have accomplished so much in 2015 and 2016 but this my new goal. In my mind I have an idea for creating an app, but what kind to create? Will other opportunities come in my future? I think thwy will.
Being a self-thought computer nerd really rules! Robots are coming in few years. But there wil be a group of individuals who will maintain the equipment and create new programs.
