When I moved to America in one middle school I attended for about a year, there was a student in the ESL class who was Korean. We got aquatinted, one day I asked how he felt about Kim Jong-Il. I think I left him speechless. I don’t remember how I asked, but I left him speechless, but I vaguely remember him saying that he is a very bad man. When my mom told me that North Korea was communist

When my mom told me that North Korea was communist and ran by a dictator, I thought communism was over and done. As I was in my world history class, there were couple nations left that were communist, like Cuba.

After I graduated high school, I want to a vocation program and I had a female classmate, who was also from South Korea. We became good friends. I don’t think South Koreans would want to talk about this situation. As a guy from Europe, both Koreas will reunite one day like Germany did.

As I was finishing the book titled In Order To Live and I am reading this book it again. I though I would list few things about South Korea. It is interesting how modernism is so awesome and how country grew so much in such short time. So here is my take what I find interesting about Korea.

1.) Post war recovery- Much like Japan, South Korea went through war. Korean war took place through 1950-1953. Wars are very difficult and sad periods of any country. To summarize the event’s that unfolded, North Korea was supported by Russian, in which they invaded the South Korea who had transitioned to capitalism. To prevent the spread of communism, America had to be involved. Sadly, when the war ended the peace treaty was never signed and the peninsula was divided. South Korea modernized and built thriving economy. If America would not come to help solve the problem. things would much worse.

2.) K-Pop- In recent years anything from South Korea has become popular and is taking everything by storm. Especially music entertainment. When something becomes a trend, it is so hard to let go. I don’t know how Psy’s Gangnam Style became so poplar it broke YouTube’s view counter when it came out in 2013. And now everything is BTS. South Korea’s economic efforts of recovery was through music. As for movies with bunch of them on Netflix, I have to see one or two before I judge. I like how flashy k-pop music videos are and how energetic beats are.

3.) Technology- South Korean technology market is growing fast. We have their cell phones with fantastic camera capabilities and glossy screens. But don’t even start with their TVs, how can a television set be so big, yet thinner than your phone in your pocket. As a car guy enthusiast, their car market had improved so much that Kia and Hyundai are competing with makers like BMW and Mercedes. And with staying on topic of technology, I am going to touch on robots. South Korea caught up with Japan on robot technology and both nations are going strong in this industry.

As mush as I want to write fourth and fifth paragraph, scientists and scholars will have to have their own dedicated articles. With the modernized alphabet that simple is to understand, effective treatments when sick and other great things Korea is praised for, I don't know where to even begin.

What shocks me is how much North and South Korea are different from each other. For one both of these two countries share the share similar language, heritage and history. Do you think both Koreas will reunite one day? I certainly hope so.
